Is Taking Action The Shortcut You’ve Been Waiting For?
The unexpected paths that open when you just start
An idea is just energy until you pair it with action and intention. There is nothing better than daydreaming and imagining how amazing things could be, but until you actually do something about it, it’s just an ideal image in your mind—a dream and a hope of what could be.
The moment you take a step toward it, things start shifting. Doors open, paths reveal themselves, and sometimes, it looks completely different than you imagined.
Here’s a perfect example:
I wanted to sell my Self Love Tea at a spa boutique in a high-end hotel. I felt the pull to act right away, so I called, got the information I needed, and went the next day to meet with the retail supervisor. But when I arrived, I found out the person who answered my call was new and had given me the wrong information. Not only did the spa not carry tea, but they also didn’t accept product pitches or meetings on the spot.
At first, I was annoyed and felt like I had wasted my time, instead, the supervisor shared something I wouldn’t have known if I hadn’t shown up: they often do buyouts for events, curate gift boxes, and incorporate products into wellness experiences. She suggested that my tea might actually be a perfect fit for that instead.
If I had waited, overthought it, or spent more time just imagining my tea in their spa, I would’ve never discovered this other path. Now, I’m in motion, creating from this new reality. I’m following up on what’s actually in front of me, exploring ways to integrate my tea into their gift boxes and wellness programs, and even pitching myself as a facilitator.
By taking immediate action instead of just visualizing, I saved myself time and energy that would’ve been spent on an opportunity that didn’t even exist. Taking action in real-time, instead of just dreaming, has propelled me further and faster than anything else I’ve done.
